Tour of Manufacturing Laboratories in the University of Wisconsin Mechanical Engineering Building

No charge, but pre-registration is required during the registration process.

Tour Guides: Frank Pfefferkorn, Xiaochun Li, Neil Duffie, Tim Osswald

Guests will have an opportunity to tour the Advanced Manufacturing Laboratory (Li and Pfefferkorn) and the Polymer Processing Laboratory (Osswald and Turng) in the beautifully renovated Mechanical Engineering Building. On the tours you will interact with the principle investigators as well as the graduate students working on the research projects. Experimental apparatus that you will see on the tour
included: micro-/nano-thin-film sensor fabrication and characterization, pulsed laser micro polishing, nanocrystalline diamond coating of micro tools, micro end milling, nano-cellular polymer processing, and nano-particle reinforced casting. If guests are interested we can also tour the manufacturing teaching laboratories, clean room facilities, material science center, and foundry, which are all located on the engineering campus.
